Okay it’s been a little while since I’ve posted! I’ll be coming back to some of our adventures in South America but for now the adventure continues…

With around 40 hours of travel ahead of us, we left the shores of beautiful Brazil for our new destination, Vietnam. We booked with Turkish Airlines which in the last 48 hours has had it’s ups and downs.
Online check in told us our flight had been over subscribed and we’d have to speak to the check in desk at the airport. It was hours before we could get hold of anyone at our travel agents or the airline, and with our first flight in a matter of hours we weren’t holding out much hope. However STA Travel came to the rescue and informed us the time had changed, rebooked us onto the new flight and everything was fine again (for now 🤔)…
Boarded the first flight to Istanbul with no problems. The food on Turkish Airlines was actually really good and plenty of it.

The plane was kitted out with an awesome entertainment system (killed plenty of time watching Avengers Endgame), on board WiFi which was a first for me, and cameras so you could see the view below the plane on your screen. So cool!

The next spot of trouble came at Istanbul airport where moments after disembarking for our connection we were pulled hastily to one side, questioned, and searched vigorously. Ironically after my whole backpack had been opened and everything pulled out, the airport staff told us we were taking too long repacking it… typical!

Istanbul airport is only a few months old and quite staggering. The place is huuuuuuge! It took over 20 minutes just to get to passport control and that’s including the use of travelators.

We had a few hours to kill and enjoyed some turkish ice cream to pass the time. Expensive but delicious!

Second half of the journey now from Istanbul to Hanoi and this was another 17 hours of travel – lovely right?! Enjoyed some more Turkish Airlines hummus and got some pretty incredible views up there, especially as the sun began to rise over the clouds. Love window seats!!!

We’re in Hanoi now and so I’ll be writing some more tomorrow on my new guitar (spoiler alert) and the shenanigans from the last few days. See you soon…
