Further into the Peruvian desert we found ourselves in Ica, not far from the desert oasis of Huacachina. Our hostel, Ica Adventures 2, was just a 20 minute walk from the bus station. Okay it had its flaws – namely that on both the nights we spent there I was bitterly cold in bed, but I would still give it a 7/10 because it had great redeeming features (okay you got me, the bar was cheap – this giant Pisco Sour cocktail was around ÂŁ4.50).

It did have a lovely vibe though and a little rooftop lounge above the bar with panoramic views that were pretty damn incredible.

Right enough about the hostel and onto the exciting stuff that we actually went to Ica for – racing around the sand dunes of Huacachina on a giant sand buggy! I’ll let the video speak for itself!
The ride was rough and we had a few moments of respite to give sandboarding a go. It was awesome!! Do not miss this if you’re heading that way:
Last stop of the day – watching the sun set across the desert. The footage doesn’t do it justice.
